Why rock the boat needlessly?
The way I see it, if no good purpose can be served by sharing the information (any information really) why do it? There are after all plenty of people I know and like with whom I would be reluctant to initiate a serious discussion of politics and/or religion for much the same reasons.
No doubt some of my friends and relatives have interests I'd prefer not to know about as well
