There's no trust where there's infidelity, and there shouldn't be any spanking where there's no trust.
It's not a magic cure-all. If the situation is real, develop some real remorse first (as you've not demonstrated any yet), then work on rebuilding the relationship. Then, and only then, should you worry about appropriate "punishments".
