The Family Paddle
 

Our family had a paddle. My dad made it. Mom was the primary paddler though. My aunt and uncle on my mom's side of the family had a family paddle as well... Their's was bigger and more intimidating. Our paddle had my name on one side and my sister's on the other. My name wore off a lot faster than hers! LOL!

Did anyone else have a family paddle?

I was an only child raised by my grandmother, and she had a switch. She kept it in the broom closet. I remember getting in there and throwing it away on two occasions, only to have it magically reappear the next time I needed a switching. I never knew where Grandma got the switches because they were willow, and we had no willow trees.
