Surgery

This isn't really relevant to the forum so apologies in advance.

I've been diagnosed with a hernia and am going in for a surgical repair week after next. It is day surgery and I will be home that night. I suppose that in the great scheme of operations, mine is pretty minor. That said, in my 55 years, I've never so much as spent a night in a hospital. I've been blessed with superb health.

I've had a few wounds sutured up and had my wisdom teeth removed but never been "under the knife" as it were. Recovery is about a week of at home bed rest. Sitting around the house, doped up on pain pills and watching old John Wayne movies sounds pretty cool but nevertheless I'm nervous. If I could may, could I solicit prayers and good wishes from my forum family? You guys mean so much to me.

Sorry to be such a baby.

Warmest regards,

rangerboy.

RB,

Good luck with all of it. I'm sure all will go well and you'll be well taken care of. They've got that deal down to a science now.

As someone who has had nasal surgery three times (and may yet need a 4th) I sympathize rangerboy. You're not being a baby at all. Hang in there and know you're in a lot of prayers.

We will all keep special prayers and best thoughts with you Ranger Boy.

Ouch. I'm sorry you have to go through that, but honestly, you will be fine. My stepdad has had hernia surgery twice and he breezed through it.

There is nothing wrong with being nervous. If you weren't, THEN we might wonder about you. :) Best of luck, and until the time of the surgery, try to keep busy and distracted so you won't think about it too much. -- Erica

Like Erica's stepdad, I've had the dubious distinction of going through hernia surgery twice (once on each side), and also like Erica's stepdad, I encountered no problems whatsoever. I can appreciate your feelings of apprehension, though, rangerboy, since I was a bit apprehensive myself prior to my first surgery. Hope things go just as smoothly for you as they did for me, and as Erica has suggested, try not to obsess too much about the experience.

Hope your surgery goes well and you're feeling good real soon.

I think you'd have more to worry about if you weren't worried about it! Worry is healthy and perfectly normal!
